Today at our regional event in #Almaty 🇰🇿, participants engaged in insightful & thought-provoking discussions followed by the presentation of our #SafetyOfJournalists toolbox & Guidelines for monitoring online violence against female journalists.

We need a multi stakeholder approach to properly address gender-based violence against women journalists. This is paramount for #MediaFreedom. Our two resources offer key recommendations in this regard. See more:

At @UNESCO Platform Governance Conference we focused on:
👉Readjusting platform governance to better ensure #SafetyofJournalists;
👉Properly addressing online violence targeting women journalists;
👉Online platforms as amplifiers for violence & their effect on public debate.

Great meeting with @mfa_bih @DinoKonakovic in Sarajevo today to discuss the crucial topics of #SafetyOfJournalists, public service media & political commitment needed to ensure a free & diverse #MediaFreedom environment. They are essential for democracy, peace & security in #BiH.

Gender-based online attacks against women journalists are detrimental to #MediaFreedom, our democracies & common security. Our Monitoring Guidelines offer key recommendations for prevention of their safety & protection against undue pressure. #SOFJO

Strongly condemn the attack on Tgr Calabria's TV crew, including journalist Lorenzo Gottardo, injured while on assignment. Trusting 🇮🇹 authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the #SafetyofJournalists. #MediaFreedom

Just concluded my visit to 🇮🇹. Discussed pressing issues, including decriminalizing defamation & opened our #SafetyofJournalists event bringing together national focal points. We agreed on the need to continue our efforts towards furthering #MediaFreedom.

Thrilled to be in Rome today for the launch of the National Focal Points meeting, graciously hosted by 🇮🇹. These partners are instrumental in enhancing #SafetyofJournalists across the #OSCE region, exchanging invaluable insights and national initiatives.

Today, we commemorate the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak & his fiancée Martina Kušnirova in #Slovakia 6 yrs. ago. This heinous crime continues to be a sad reminder of the dangers that journalists face. I will continue to advocate for full justice & for the #SafetyOfJournalists.

Yesterday's attack on a reporting team from @CanalDoPorto, while it was covering a demonstration in São João da Madeira, is alarming. I trust that the authorities of #Portugal will hold the perpetrators accountable. #SafetyofJournalists

Happy to host several journalists from #Malta in Vienna yesterday. We had open and fruitful exchanges on various #mediafreedom issues & #SafetyofJournalists and the role of the @OSCE in the current geopolitical challenges that clearly affect all participating States.

Today, we presented our #SafetyofJournalists Toolbox at the #EuropeanNewsMediaForum, hosted by the @EU_Commission. I'm excited to collaborate closely with our partners on this critical aspect of #mediafreedom.

Yesterday’s verbal & physical attacks on media professionals in front of the PSOE headquarters in #Spain are very disturbing. #SafetyofJournalists is paramount to #mediafreedom. Media should be able to cover protests, without undue hindrance.
