👉 Inflation eats your breakfast! You need to eat less or work more
⠀
🚀 The foods that make up the traditional American breakfast have skyrocketed in price over the past two years. At the beginning of 2023, the same problems continue to haunt the market − adverse weather conditions, sanctions, and logistics problems. We offer several options to protect against rising food prices.
⠀
For a global assessment of the situation, analysts came up with the Bloomberg Breakfast Index, which reflects the prices of products included in a traditional English breakfast. These are coffee, milk, orange juice, eggs, butter, bacon, bread, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, tea and sugar. So the cost of a portion of «breakfast» from the products of the index over the past year has increased by £6.20.
⠀
It is possible to compensate for part of the losses with successful speculations if we correctly assess the factors influencing the price dynamics of basic foodstuffs.
⠀
For example, orange concentrate futures are up nearly 110% in two years. This year, farmers in Florida are expecting their worst citrus harvest in 90 years after an abnormal frost and two hurricanes. Considering that the volatility of the price of orange juice usually increases in the second half of the year, we can count on the continuation of the rally in this market, at least until October of this year.
⠀
Seasonal trends include:
• coffee prices rise due to adverse weather conditions in Brazil (bullish forecast for about 3-6 months);
• pork becomes more expensive due to increased transport costs (a steady increase is expected from mid-February);
• sugar prices generally decline from January to August;
• soybeans usually rise in price from February and reach an annual peak in June, then the price decreases if there are no serious problems with the weather.
⠀
Try to follow the market, and then perhaps the quality of your breakfasts will not suffer much.
