Nigeria Lose 1-2 to Rwanda in Final AFCON Qualifier
Nigeria ended their AFCON Group D qualifiers with a 2-1 loss to Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Despite the defeat, Nigeria had already qualified for the 2025 AFCON, finishing top of the group with 11 points.
Samuel Chukwueze gave Nigeria the lead in the 59th minute, but Rwanda equalized through Aimable Mutinzi in the 72nd minute. Imanishimwe Nshuti then scored the winner three minutes later. The Super Eagles had a dominant second half but failed to capitalize on chances, with defensive errors costing them.
Benin also qualified, finishing second in the group.
