🔹 The 22nd International Meeting on Syria within the Astana Process was held today in Astana. The plenary session was opened by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev, who also read out the Joint Statement of the representatives of Iran, Russia and Türkiye on the results of the meeting.
During the two-day talks, the parties discussed the development of the regional situation surrounding Syria, efforts for a comprehensive settlement in the SAR, the “on-the-ground” situation in Syria, confidence-building measures, including the release of hostages and the search for missing persons and the humanitarian situation in Syria and mobilization of international efforts to support post-conflict recovery in the SAR and create conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
At the end of the plenary session, the heads of delegations of the guarantor countries, the Government of Syria and the Syrian opposition held a press conference for representatives of Kazakh and foreign media.
