The opening of CYFEST main project, one of two, brought all of the artistic community together – you could see artists and curators from most of the institutions in one room, which is fantastic. CYFEST also keeps the promise of bringing the global art to Armenia to show different perspectives on the state of the art in world.
I found myself most resonating with Liudmila Belova's interpretation of the festival's topic – the peepholes invoked the subtlest but most particular body movement connected to excitement of meeting a guest while being in the comfort of home. It needed not to be exact but still triggered the perfectly archived feeling.
And the 'Eigengrau' performance by Hans Tammen and Shelley Hirsch was the highest point of the night – I stood there smiling carelessly as Shelley gave a lecture in unprompted and subconscious vocalizations and live text (video in comments), accompanied by Hans's improvisation. I felt validated to be open and weird, like they gave me a permission to finally unrestrict myself and that the time was not a limit too.
