"Resilience of Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats to Secondary Insults After Traumatic Brain Injury: Immediate Seizures, Survival, and Stress Response"
https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/26/2/829
In short, this study reveals that spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) are more resistant to traumatic brain injury than normotensive rats. SHRs showed fewer immediate seizures, lower stress hormone spikes and zero (!) mortality, highlighting potential protective adaptations linked to chronic hypertension. These findings could improve further TBI studies and help the clinical care for patients with hypertension.
