Journalist Rasha Herzallah was released Sunday after serving a six-month prison sentence and paying a 5,000-shekel fine. She was initially detained on June 2, 2024, after being summoned to the Huwwara detention center over a Facebook post. After her release, Herzallah spoke of the harsh conditions she endured.
Since October 2023, Israel has detained 94 journalists, including four women: Herzallah, Rola Hassanin, Bushra Al-Tawil, and Amal Shuja lyah, a Birzeit University student.
Sixteen journalists from Gaza and 17 from the West Bank, including Herzallah, are held under administrative detention, allowing indefinite imprisonment without charges or trial.
