🍁 When a language lacks a particular word type
✍🏻 Lewis Gebhardt:
One more thing to note is that even if a language lacks a particular word type, that language’s ability to express ideas is not compromised because there are other means to get any intended message across. For example, a language may lack a dedicated morpheme for making nouns plural, but either context or some other options of expression will be available to express plurality. (Gebhardt, 2023: 71)
