π₯ Unexpected Partnership: a new form of War for the car market
β
π― Ford Motor Company has hit the jackpot: a partnership agreement with Elon Musk's company will allow owners of
Ford electric vehicles to use a network of more than 12,000 Tesla Supercharger charging stations in the United States.
Ford is the first automaker to use a proprietary TSLA charging port.
β
Earlier, the White House announced that Tesla, Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) was ready to open part of its Supercharger network to other car manufacturers, but at the time, this announcement was considered unsuccessful advertising.
β
And now an incredible agreement was concluded - the market has not seen such a level of mutual trust between competitors for a long time. Elon Musk and
Ford CEO Farley held a joint presentation on Twitter Spaces.
β
The TSLA adapter will allow Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit vehicles to access Tesla V3 devices. In the spring of 2024, the number of fast chargers for
Ford electric vehicles will double. In addition to the agreement with Tesla,
Ford dealers will add about 1,800 public fast charging stations and points to the BlueOval Charge network by early 2024.
β
And what is the profit?
β’
Ford is addressing the issue with its next-generation
Ford EVs, which (for now!) are calling Β«Gen 2Β».
β’ Musk's conservative sympathy for
Ford and personally for the director of Farley is because this company did not accept US government assistance in 2009, as General Motors and Chrysler did, that is, it did not compete hard with Tesla.
β
Now Elon is even willing to open source the proprietary software so that
Ford can use it. In addition, there are ideas for cooperation in the field of processing lithium raw materials for batteries.
β
By all appearances, this partnership has a long and mutually beneficial road ahead. So mid-term investors are already building up their positions in
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) shares, especially since the company is now paying a decent 5% dividend.
