π Survival becomes more expensive: Pfizer and Moderna raise vaccine pricesβ
π΅ Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE) and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: MRNA) have raised prices for their COVID-19
vaccines in recent EU supply contracts. No problem! β The usual business.
β
The European Commission said that the EU intends to achieve the goal at any cost - to fully vaccinate at least 80% of the adult population in 2-3 months. This requires over a billion doses of
vaccines from four major manufacturers in stock by the end of September.
β
Now one βportionβ of Pfizer costs β¬19.50 ($23.15), which is β¬4 more than the βoldβ price. The Moderna
vaccine price has risen to $25.50 per one, but this is even better than the previously agreed price of $28.50, as the volume of orders increased significantly.
β
Since the beginning of the pandemic, at least 10 business owners have become billionaires from
vaccine profits, according to the charity Oxfam and information from the People's
Vaccine Alliance.
β
The maximum profit was recorded by the head of Moderna Company, Stefan Bansel (his fortune is estimated at $4.3 billion), and the co-owner of BioNTech Company, Ugur Shahin ($4 billion). In addition to Moderna representatives, the list also includes investors and officials from China's CanSino Biologics and
vaccine packaging manufacturer ROVI.
β
Both Pfizer and Moderna declined to comment on the current contract with the European Commission, citing confidentiality.
β
Profits to y'all!
