π Insider time: what to buy in April
β
Three US stock indices β S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite β have been steadily making new highs since the beginning of the year thanks to the excitement around AI and expectations of Fed rate cuts.
β
All those who have had time (and those who haven't, too) to invest in the frenzied rally of Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and gold are now looking for the best undervalued stocks that have posted profitable results over the past year and could continue to rise in the coming months.
β
Upcoming quarterly earnings reports will serve as major catalysts. Let's not reinvent the wheel and suggest paying attention to the sure-fire sharks of the market.
β
β’ Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) (2024: +18.7%)
Amazon stock ended Thursday's session at $180.38, not far from its July 2021 all-time high of $188.65. With a $1.87 trillion valuation, the e-commerce and cloud technology giant has already added about 80% over the past 12 months, but there is still potential for another 2-6% upside from the current price in April. Wall Street analysts generally expect a 14% rise to $206 a share.
β
β’ ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) (2024: +16.3%)
ExxonMobil stock is poised to retrace its September high of $120.70. One of the top ten most expensive companies trading on the NYSE has successfully outperformed rivals Chevron (NYSE: CVX) (+5.7%), Shell (LON: SHEL) (+1.9%) and BP (NYSE: BP) ( +6.4%) over the same time period. In April, expect 6.7-8% upside from the current price β bringing the stock closer to the "fair value" target price of $124.08.
β
β’ Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) (2024: +8.3%)
GS stock has hit a one-year high of $417.69. We expect nearly 10% upside in April, to about $458 per share. The first statistics will come out on April 16, but big players are already betting on a positive report. The results are likely to be bolstered by a strong performance from the investment banking division and a pickup in deal and IPO activity.
