You can now make anonymous offers to owners of Telegram usernames – letting them know how much you’d be willing to bid if they put their username up for auction.
To encourage serious offers, sending an offer requires a small fee. If the owner chooses to auction their username, you’ll get a notification on Telegram.
Telegram users can now list their usernames on Fragment for free without placing a starting bid:
• Once listed, the username will remain available for auction for an unlimited time – until the first bid is placed. • A 7-day auction starts as soon as anyone places the first bid. • After the auction ends, the platform fee and a one-time conversion fee will be deducted from the proceeds.
The ownership of these collectible usernames is secured in the immutable ledger of TON, a fast and scalable blockchain network. Owners can add multiple username aliases to their personal account, group or channel.
Evaluation Criteria and Prize Fund Distribution: Bounties are dependent on the severity of the discovered issues and could potentially range from $200 for minor code adjustments to $50,000 for major flaws – like behavior that could bypass the smart contract's logic and conditions in order to reassign ownership of assets.
Details: For a complete description and technical details, see this document.
Submissions: 1. Submit an archive containing your source code, a how-to manual, and a build script (if necessary) to @ContestBot(choose Smart Contract Cracking Competition).
Or:
2. Submit a pull request on GitHub. Describe the issue as a comment to the pull request. Submit a link to the pull request via @ContestBot.
The smart contract that Telegram will use to put up its usernames for auction has just been published. Anyone is welcome to analyze the smart contract for potential security flaws. Whoever is able to find a serious security issue within the next 70 hours can win up to $50,000.
A few weeks ago, the founder and CEO of Telegram announced the upcoming ability to buy and sell unique and recognizable Telegram usernames. https://t.center/durov/194
GOOD NEWS!
The development phase is almost over, and the auction platform will be launched soon. Make sure you don't miss your chance to acquire the most valuable usernames and secure your ownership of them in the TON blockchain’s immutable ledger.
Starting this week, you can also use stylish t.me links for your profiles, public groups, and channels. Just three characters – the rest is your space.
You can set up a public username on Telegram. It then becomes possible for other users to find you by that username — you will appear in contacts search under ‘global results’. This allows to message you without needing to know your number. Public channels and groups can also have usernames.
If you mention usernames in Telegram messages, they become a link that opens the conversation, group, or channel. Like this: @username (yes, this example is a little recursive 😁).
