Blinken addressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza that would secure the release of hostages and enable the delivery of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Palestinian civilians.

🇸🇾🕊⚡️ Hundreds gathered in Damascus to honour Mazen al-Hamada, a prominent Syrian activist, in a funeral march earlier today.

Mazen became a symbol of resistance after being arrested and tortured by the Assad regime during the 2011 protests. Following his escape to the Netherlands, he advocated for justice and raised awareness about the regime's brutal practices.

In 2020, Mazen returned to Syria after receiving promises of clemency, only to be arrested upon arrival.

He subsequently disappeared into the notorious Sednaya prison. His dead body was recently discovered in the prison, bearing the marks of severe torture.
