ΦΉ β π The two met in middle school when Reo accidentally met Nagi who was sitting on the stairs playing games on her cellphone. Nagi's cell phone slipped from her hand and Reo was immediately shocked when Nagi saved her cell phone by jumping from the stairs without tripping and continuing her game. When Reo finds out that Nagi has never played soccer, he is shocked and wants to encourage her to play with him, and they might even become professional players. However, Nagi is reluctant to play and tries hard to practice, which makes Reo want her even more (parallel to her desire to want something she can't get with his desire to want something that cannot be obtained easily). While in Bluelock, Reo is shown to respect Nagi, being very protective of her and making sure she doesn't get physically hurt during the game, he defends Nagi whenever she misses practice. She also gives him rides, buys him food, adopts a very motherly attitude towards him.
