🖊 Arachnoid cap cells are specialized cells found in the central nervous system, specifically within the arachnoid mater, which is one of the three meningeal layers that protect the brain and spinal cord.
🖊 Structure and Location: Arachnoid cap cells are located in the arachnoid granulations, also known as Pacchionian granulations.
🖊 These granulations are small protrusions of the arachnoid mater that extend into the dural venous sinuses, particularly the superior sagittal sinus.
🖊Function: The primary function of arachnoid cap cells is to facilitate the absorption and drainage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the subarachnoid space into the venous system.

🧠 Aseptic meningitis

🖊 Aseptic meningitis is defined as meningeal inflammation - i.e. cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pleocytosis≥5 cells/mm3 - not related to an infectious process.
🖊 Etiologies of aseptic meningitis can be classified in three main groups: systemic diseases with meningeal involvement, which include sarcoidosis, Behçet's disease, Sjögren's syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus and granulomatosis with polyangiitis; drug-induced aseptic meningitis, mostly reported with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antibiotics (sulfamides, penicillins), intravenous immunoglobulin, and monoclonal antibodies; neoplastic meningitis, either related to solid cancer metastasis.
