🚨One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts has tabled an urgency motion “to recognise that a blanket ban on social media for children under 16 expropriates parental power — and for the Senate to affirm that parental responsibility rests in the parents, not the Federal Government.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

NSW Premier Chris Minns supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

QLD Premier David Crisafulli supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

WA Premier Roger Cook supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

SA Premier Peter Malinauskas supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

TAS Premier Jeremy Rockliff supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr supports a social media ban for those aged under 16 years of age with the implementation of a national Digital ID.

🚨Nationals Leader David Littleproud has endorsed the proposal for a nationwide social media age verification program.

He argues that implementing such a system would serve as an effective mechanism for parents to ensure the safety of their children online.

🚨 Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie has confirmed that she will vote NO for the Misinformation bill.

In a statement, she said “After careful consideration and listening to feedback, I’ve decided to vote no on the Government’s Misinformation and Disinformation Bill.

Handing the power to social media companies to regulate ‘truth’ is risky, and I’m not comfortable with the potential negative impacts.

We need to address misinformation in a balanced way—this Bill isn’t it.”

The report was always due on or before the 25th Nov, it simply indicates that we might have an extra week to campaign against it whilst Albo tries to swing the Independents… so continue to send them emails and calls, this isn’t over.

🚨𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Shadow Communications Minister, David Coleman has just given us the biggest indication that the Labor Government does NOT currently have the Senate support required to proceed with a vote on the Misinformation bill next week — and will likely wait until the final sitting week of the year to decide the fate of this legislation.

🚨Opposition Leader Peter Dutton: “There should be bipartisan support [to ban u16 teenagers from social media],

I hope that the Government can present the bill to Parliament next week, so that we can pass it by Christmas and give a really good present to Australian families.”
