Moments ago, tensions were escalating at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Where Hundreds of students, pro-Palestine protesters, and other activists have gathered in large numbers and are clashing with Atlanta Police outside the Chandler School of Theology building. A tense standoff is underway as protesters attempt to storm inside and occupy the building. Atlanta police are firing multiple rounds of pellet balls, and there are reports of tear gas being deployed. Moments ago at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, hundreds of students, pro-Palestine protesters, and other activists gathered in large numbers where Georgia police are making mass arrests, tasering people, launching tear gas, and reportedly firing rounds of rubber bullets at crowds and protesters. Activists and students have set up a Gaza solidarity encampment at the university. The number of arrests is not known at this time, along with clashes where bottles and other items are being thrown at police.
Currently, numerous firefighters and other emergency personnel are on the scene in Northwest Atlanta, Georgia, responding to a large CSX train derailment that is currently on fire as it’s reportedly carrying thousands of gallons of fuel. It is unclear what caused the train to derail and whether any of the cars contain hazardous materials that could pose issues they have blocked and closed nearby roads due to safety
There has been a large chemical plant fire at a Pinova chemical plant in Brunswick, Georgia. Emergency officials have issued a shelter-in-place order for a half-mile radius. As numerous firefighters and agencies battle the flames. The plant produces materials such as adhesives, glues, and even food products that are commonly used every day.
The National Weather Service issued a Flash flood Emergency and calls this a "particularly dangerous situation" after the Spalding County Emergency Management reported the imminent failure of Head's Creek Reservoir dam. from heavy rainfall
