🇸🇾❌🇸🇾- Last night, Syrian internal security units clashed with militias at the northern entrance to the city of Suwayda, which were attempting to attack military and civilian institutions in the governorate.
Recently, the Druze-majority city has been experiencing escalations and demonstrations against the Syrian regime. It might become another conflict zone similar to Idlib. In the event of a full-scale escalation in Suwayda, the regime may find it challenging to regain control quickly for several reasons. Suwayda is a Druze-majority city, and the Druze in Galilee have threatened Bashar al-Assad's regime with repercussions if they take any actions against them (unlike the Druze in the occupied Golan Heights, Galilee Druze have been fighting for Israel since before 1948). Therefore, it is likely they will provide air support or send weapons. Jordan also shares a relatively large border with Suwayda.
🪧🇮🇱During the demonstrations a few weeks ago, locals were seen raising pictures of Mowafaq Tarif, the Qadi of the Galilee Israeli Druze.
