▪️لاتستخدم ادوات التعريف قبل اسماء الالعاب والرياضيات مثل
football, hockey, tennis, cricket, volley-ball, basket-ball.

❌ The gold is a precious metal.

▪️لانستخدم ادوات التعريف مع اسماء المواد والمعادن اذا كانت معنى عام
Don't use any article with material nouns, if used in a general sense.

📌 Note: Material nouns, used in a particular sense, require the definite article 🔆The coal from the Midlands is exported to many countries.

▪️Abstract nouns, if used in a general sense, can't take the article.

✴️في هذه الامثلة The لا تعني شيئا واحدا محددا. .
💠The giraffe = نوع معين من الحيوانات ، وليس زرافة معينة. .
لذلك نستخدم The بهذه الطريقة للحديث عن نوع من الحيوانات ، آلالات ...الخ

✴️In the same way we use the for musical instruments:

🔆The piano is my favourite instrument.

🔰 #مقارنة a and the:
🔆I’d like to have a piano. but I can’t play the piano.

🔰We saw a giraffe at the zoo. (بشكل عام)
#but 🔰The giraffe is my favourite animal.

✴️Note that man (without the)
= human beings in general, the human race:
💠البشر بشكل عام ، الجنس البشري:

🔆What do you know about the origins of man? (❌the man)

✴️We use the + adjective (without a noun) to talk about groups of people.
For example:
💠the old 💠the elderly 💠the rich
💠the poor 💠the homeless 💠the unemployed
💠the sick 💠the injured
the old = old people, the rich = rich people etc. :
🔆Do you think the rich should pay higher taxes?
🔆We need to do more to help the homeless.

Note that we say: the old (not the olds), the poor (not the poors) etc.
The rich, the homeless etc. are plural. For one person, we say:
a rich man (not a rich) a homeless person (not a homeless)

✴️ نستخدم the + بعض صفات الجنسية التي تنتهي
بـ (-ch or -sh)

💠the English 💠the Spanish
💠 المعنى هو الجمع -ناس ذلك البلد.

(❌French are …)

📌لانقول ‘a French’ او‘an English’ "مفرد" لكن نذكر بعدها اسم :
🔆 I met a French woman / an English guy.

✴️نستخدم "The" مع الجنسية المنتهية بـ -ese /or -ss:
💠 the Chinese 💠the Portuguese 💠the Swiss
🔰يمكن أن تكون هذه الكلمات أيضا مفردة (singular)
(a Chinese, a Swiss etc.).

✴️ بالجنسيات الأخرى ، الذي ينتهي الجمع بـ(-s) غالبا تكون بدون "The"
💠 an Italian → Italians
💠 a Mexican → Mexicans
💠a Thai → Thais
🔆Italians / Mexicans / Thais are very friendly.
