Today, staff members of Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Malta found themselves in the spotlight on Maltese television, appearing on the morning show TVAM.
The broadcast, focused on the Russian community in Malta, featured an interview with the Centre’s director, Dr. Irina Pereverzeva, who answered questions from the host. The conversation was wide-ranging, covering topics from Russia’s geography, population, and ethnic diversity to the history of Russian-Maltese relations and the key historical figures behind them. They discussed everything from Russian dishes to the quirks of the Mediterranean climate, with its damp, windy winters that often surprise Russian visitors. Viewers were further introduced to Russian culture through a performance by Olga Agafonova, who sang the traditional folk song "Kalinka" a cappella, dressed in a traditional costume with red as the main color.
“In Russian, red means beautiful,” Irina Pereverzeva explained to viewers, sharing the cultural significance of the color.
