Check out this video of Sclerotinia apothecia releasing ascospores into the air
π¨
During moist weather, Sclerotia will germinate and produce these apothecia to spread this fungal disease. These spores, once released into the air, will be carried by the wind to infect nearby crops
πΏ
Our researchers are studying every aspect of this disease, and this year they are using the plates to produce inoculum to screen canola and lupin varieties for Sclerotinia resistance.
