Reverse Signaling by MHC-I Molecules in Immune and Non-Immune Cell Types
"The Alternative Role of MHC-I as Signaling Molecules and Their Structure
Besides their role in antigen presentation for T cell activation, both MHC-I and MHC-II molecules are involved in reverse signaling, meaning that ligation of the MHC molecule leads to signal-transduction and cell regulatory effects in the APC (3). In this review we will focus on reverse MHC-I signaling; given the ample literature available across different cell types, its importance for medical outcomes in transplantation patients and its potential role regulating immune responses against infection and malignancies."
