خواجه شمسُ‌الدّینْ محمّدِ بن بهاءُالدّینْ محمّدْ حافظِ شیرازی (۷۲۷ – ۷۹۲ هجری قمری) مشهور به لِسانُ‌الْغِیْب، تَرجُمانُ الْاَسرار، لِسانُ‌الْعُرَفا و ناظِمُ‌الاُولیاء، متخلص به حافظ، شاعر فارسی‌گوی ایرانی بود. بیش‌تر شعرهای او غزل است. مشهور است که حافظ به شیوهٔ سخن‌پردازی خواجوی کرمانی گرویده و همانندیِ سخنش با شعرِ خواجو مشهور است.

حافظ را از مهم‌ترین اثرگذاران بر شاعرانِ فارسی‌زبانِ پس از خود می‌شناسند. در سده‌های هجدهم و نوزدهم میلادی اشعار او را به زبان‌های اروپایی ترجمه کردند و نامش به محافل ادبی جهان غرب نیز راه یافت.

▪️A brief description of the Lecture:

Over the course of nearly 60 years, Pozzi collected more than 3500 art objects in his Parisian apartment, including textiles, carpets, manuscripts, album folios, ceramics, and tiles from the Islamic lands and beyond. Despite this, his career remains largely unexplored today, mainly due to the fact that his collection was widely dispersed to various museums, auction houses and heirs after his death.

We examine specifically his first collection catalogue, commented on and published by Edgar Blochet in 1930. Reviewing the keen Parisian interest in “Oriental” arts and crafts, and especially their appeal to renowned French couturiers and designers, we argue that Jean Pozzi’s catalogue may be seen as one of the persuasive Persian collections of the early twentieth century, providing the forms and tones that French industries of textile design and fashion sought before World War II.


▪️About the Speaker:
Dr. Negar Habibi is an art historian and lecturer of Islamic arts at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She has been conducting extensive research on Jean Pozzi and his Islamic art collection since 2021. Habibi has authored multiple publications, including Ali Qoli Jebâdâr and Safavid Occidentalism, published by Brill in 2018 (in French), Shahnameh: The Book of Persian Kings, published by Pocket in 2021 (in French), and an edited open-access volume titled The Idea of the Just Ruler in Persianate Art and Material Culture, published in the Manazir Journal in 2023. Additionally, she has written several articles on artistic production and patronage in 17th-century Iran and Pozzi’s Persian Painting collection. Habibi’s second monograph will focus on Pozzi and his Islamic collection (now largely dispersed worldwide) and is expected to lead to a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HdR) in France.

▪️شرحی مختصر از سخنرانی:
دکتر نگار حبیبی در این سخنرانی زندگی و فعالیت‌های ژان پوتزی (۱۸۸۵-۱۹۶۷) وزیر مختار فرانسوی در ایران (در ۱۹۳۵) و مصر (۱۹۳۹-۱۹۴۲) را مستند می‌کند. پوتزی طی ۶۰ سال بیش از ۳۵۰۰ اثر هنری را در آپارتمان خود در پاریس جمع‌آوری کرد که شامل منسوجات، فرش‌ها، مخطوطات، برگه‌های آلبوم، سرامیک‌ها و کاشی‌هایی از سرزمین‌های اسلامی و دیگر نقاط می‌شد. با این حال، فعالیت‌های او هنوز تا حد زیادی گمنام مانده است، عمدتاً به این دلیل که پس از مرگ او مجموعه‌اش بین موزه‌ها، حراجی‌ها و وارثانش پراکنده و توزیع شد.

در این سخنرانی مشخصا اولین فهرست مجموعه‌اش که در سال ۱۹۳۰ با توضیحات ادگار بلوشه منتشر شد بررسی می‌شود. با بررسی علاقه پاریسی شدیدش به هنرها و صنایع «شرقی» و خصوصا جذابیتشان برای خیاطان و طراحان فرانسوی، ادعا این است که فهرست ژان پوتزی را می‌توان یکی از مجموعه‌های ایرانی متقاعدکننده در اوایل قرن بیستم تلقی کرد که قالب‌ها و سبک‌هایی را فراهم می‌کرد که صنایع فرانسوی مشغول در طراحی و مد پارچه پیش از جنگ جهانی دوم می‌جستند.

▪️سخنران: دکتر نگار حبیبی؛ مورخ هنر و مدرس هنرهای اسلامی در دانشگاه ژنو است. او نویسندۀ کتاب «علی قلی جبادار: مطالعۀ نقاشی‌های به‌اصطلاح فرنگی‌سازی‌شده، محیط و حامیان آن‌ها در زمان شاه سلیمان» (انتشارات بریل، ۲۰۱۸) و چندین مقاله دربارۀ تولیدات نقاشی، حمایت هنری زنان و جامعۀ ایرانی در اصفهان قرن یازدهم هجری است. پروژۀ کنونی او که بنیاد سودآور از آن حمایت کرده مطالعۀ مجموعه‌های اسلامی و فارسی ژان پوتزی است که بین چندین موزۀ اروپایی مشترک است. حبیبی همچنین از اعضای SMF برای تدریس هنر و معماری سه امپراتوری باروت در دانشگاه ژنو در سال‌های ۲۰۱۹-۲۰۲۱ است.

✓این گفتار به بررسی اولین کاتالوگ مجموعه‌ی هنر ایرانی ژان پوتزی می‌پردازد که توسط ادگار بلوشه در سال ۱۹۳۰ شرح داده و منتشر شده است. پنج برگ از نه صفحه‌ی رنگی کاتالوگ مربوط به نقاشی‌های قرن یازدهم اصفهان است که مردان و زنان شیک‌پوشی را با لباس‌های مختلف و سرپوش‌های تزئینی نشان می‌دهند. با مرور و بررسی طرح‌های مختلف پارچه و طراحی لباس در فرانسه در آغاز قرن بیستم و علاقه‌ی شدید پاریسی‌ها به هنرها و صنایع دستی «شرقی» و به ویژه جذابیت هنر ایرانی برای طراحان مشهور فرانسوی، اینطور استدلال می‌کنیم که کاتالوگ ژان پوتزی فرم‌ها و رنگ‌هایی را که صنایع طراحی پارچه و مد فرانسه قبل از جنگ جهانی دوم به دنبال آن بودند را ارائه می‌دهد.

A brief description of the lecture written by Dr. Zeinab Tamassoki:

During the 1540s-1560s, Giorgio Vasari authored Le Vite, a foundational text in art history that emphasized individual authorship in understanding artworks.
Concurrently, a poet-historian at Shah Tahmasb's court composed a narrative centered on an artwork previously attributed to the Ajam kings, making a controversial claim about this ancient monument's authorship within the Islamic world.

While Vasari's work remains central to art historiography, the narrative I examine has yet to receive scholarly attention. At its climax, this historian attributes the design of Persepolis to an unnamed Arab sage, described in meticulous detail. In a world divided between Arab and Persianate cultural zones, this attribution carries significant implications. I argue that this identity serves as an unrecognized riddle within his narrative.

My aim is to uncover the designer's identity and explore the poet's motives by contextualizing his work within broader literary, global, and religio-political frameworks.This talk illustrates how recognizing coded messages within historical texts can transform our understanding of history.
