#Iran: At least 9 men and a woman were hanged in Ghezelhesar Prison on Wednesday, 13th November. At the same time, a group of abolitionist activists and death row families gathered to peacefully protest outside the prison which was met with violent crackdown by police and prison guards.
An unidentified woman, Iraj Ahadi, Sajad Shoja, Saman Bozorgi, Khaled Tajik, an Afghan national, and Ahmad Alizadeh were sentenced to qisas (retribution-in-kind) for murder.
Hamzeh Tarkashvand (Kurdish), Jafar Rastegar (Kurdish), Jafar Rahsepari and Mohsen Moradi were on death row for drug-related offences.
At least 5 other prisoners were transferred to the pre-execution cells yesterday.
