I've had a few people ask, " How long does that take you"? I've never been able to answer that question because I squeeze in work here and there wherever I can without counting time. In between homeschooling the boys, cooking, keeping house, taking care of my family, etc. portions of the project happen when they can. That's why I like to document and share the process with you.
Today we appreciated the snow and hot cocoa after school while I hemmed and washed the latest weaving off the loom. Then we got a few pictures before dark.

As some of you may know, I collect vintage Scandinavian art and I recently stumbled upon a true treasure. This vintage Norwegian wall hanging features Prillar-Guri, also known as Prillarguri, a legendary character from folklore. According to oral tradition, she was a woman hailing from Sel, Norway, who played a pivotal role in the Battle of Kringen. This tale holds a special place in my heart, particularly because Sel is situated in the historic region of Gudbrandsdal, which is the ancestral home of my family.
The way the antlers of the stag on the coins in the previous post stretch up into a geometric pattern is the same as the stag depicted on this Viking era รverhogdal tapestry. I suspect this depicts the world tree and the stag Eikรพyrnir. The Slavs depict their world tree in a similar style as you can see from the 19th century Russian tapestry on the right.

I am passionate about revitalizing traditional Northern European folk arts, like Hardanger embroidery and medieval German brickwork, while respecting the integrity of their classic forms. These enduring crafts are not just art; they are a window to the soul of a people. In a consumer-driven world that prioritizes quantity and profit over sustainability, I strive to create purposeful art that inspires and uplifts the spirit. Creation with purpose is akin to the Divine.
