We will not have the normal catechism on Sunday. Instead, at around 2PM in the parish hall, father Theodore will be giving a general talk about the history of Orthodox monasticism for all interested.

From the 20th to the 26th of December, in Munich, Germany, there will be a youth seminar "Foothill" ("Predgorye"). Alexander Yashkin Daszkiewicz, a young musician, a composer and a multi-instrumentalist, is an active member of our parish youth group. We've chosen him as a representative of our group to participate in the events, where he will give a lecture on the topic "Contemporary trends in the world of music and their influence on the development of the Orthodox youth", where he will have to discuss the latest music trends on the youth from the perspective of music theory, psychology and philosophy. We're organising a fundraiser to buy plane tickets (£120) for Alexander to give him an opportunity to represent our youth on the international level.

On Saturday the 7th of September, there will be a walking pilgrimage to Canterbury from Ramsgate (19 miles / 30 km). We will aim to start a walk very early in the morning on Saturday. We will take the train departing at 23.40 from Victoria to Ramsgate on Friday the 6th of September. We recommend buying the ticket as soon as possible while it's cheap. We will arrive at 1.49 am to Ramsgate and will wait on the beach for a few hours until the sunrise. We encourage bringing some blankets or something what can keep you warm while waiting there. We'll set off for Canterbury around 5.30am. We'll follow the journey made by St Augustine and his forty monks as they brought the Gospel for the first time to the English people. On the way, we'll be able to visit places of cultural, historical, and religious significance, for example, St Augustine's Cross or Minster Abbey. There will be an opportunity to stop for something to eat but we encourage bringing some snacks with you too. We'll aim to finish the walk at Canterbury by 3:00 pm with a moleben (a short service) to St Augustine at the ruins of St Augustine's Abbey (we'll have to pay an entrance ticket - £9). Then we'll eat at a local pub/restaurant and take a train back to London at 17.47 from Canterbury East to Victoria. For any questions, contact reader Nikolai at 07539748373.
