π΄ Uyghur Scholar, Author, Poet and Translator: Sheikh Muhammad Qasim Amin al-TurkistaniBorn in 1927 in Kashgar city of East Turkestan. He completed his primary education and then immigrated to Makkah in 1950 where joined Al-Falah schools and Islamic classes at Masjid al-Haram.
He worked in Jeddah Radio and he used to write for Saudi newspapers of Al-Bilad and Okaz.
Sheikh Muhammad dedicated his life to the cause of East Turkestan and translated many Uyghur books into Arabic and Arabic into Uyghur, including:
History of East Turkestan by Muhammad Amin Bagra (From Uyghur to Arabic)
Greater Turkestan, Its Past and Present
Men of East Turkestan (a huge book that includes biographies of hundreds of Uyghur scholars and intellectuals)
He lived all his life in his modest library in the Al-Kanakari neighborhood in Al-Misfalah, Makkah. The door of his library was open to everyone. He loved his homeland and his only wish was to see East Turkestan liberated from the brutal Chinese occupation.
He passed away at the age of 93 in 2020 in Makkah.
