We are looking for NLP/LLM Engineer at a Japanese tech startup with remote work opportunities. For this position, we definitely expect to see Industrial LLM experience and experience in LLM4Code.
It is an ambitious deep-tech company based in Tokyo, they are developing a novel natively agentic AI system with general capabilities. Product is built on
carefully selected principles from mathematical category theory, discrete knowledge representation, and computational linguistics. Companys aim to create an artificial general
intelligence (AGI) that is trustworthy, interpretable, and safe by design.
🖇 Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement solutions leveraging open-source large language models (LLMs) to address specific business needs.
- Fine-tune, customize, and optimize open-source LLMs for various applications, ensuring high accuracy and efficiency.
- Evaluate and compare different open-source LLM architectures to select the most suitable models for given tasks.
- Integrate LLMs into existing systems, ensuring seamless functionality and performance.
- Stay updated with advancements in the field of natural language processing (NLP) and open-source LLMs, incorporating new methods and tools as appropriate.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
🔍Experience Requirements:
- At least 2 years industrial LLM experience;
- proven experience in working with large language models (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, T5, BERT).
- experience with LLM4code includes anything related to applying LLMs to code reasoning/ code understanding/code generation/code comprehension.
Applying LLMs to working with any formal system (Lambda calculus, Formal Grammar, Mathematical Equations, Logic) would also work.
💎What company offers:
- Remote work from various locations (except RF/RB); the closer to the Japan time zone the better.
- Salary: 14-17M JPY per year / from 7 to 9.5K USD gross per month + an options program (after successful 3-6 months probation period, and the amount of options can be discussed on the final interview).
- Contract will be issued through the Japanese office, with a 3% tax deducted from salary + $385 pension insurance (plan to transfer to a UK entity in the future).
- 20 days of vacation + 5 days summer vacation from July to September+ 5 sick days according to Japanese law, public holidays according to the candidate's nationality.
- Health insurance: up to 70% of the insurance is covered+ 70% compensation of additional medical costs not covered by health insurance.
