Schmitt's concept of the Überwert (overvalue, more-than-value) can be seen in Xenophon's Anabasis. At any moment he might respond monarchically, democratically, tyrannically.
A man will be beaten, his life threatened – other times, Xenophon will leap from his horse, take sword and shield from a man to bear the mountain for him. Nothing more need be said. An infinite lesson.
