๐ช๐นโ๐ช๐น โ Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) military force announced it will not demobilize, despite the agreement to do so.
๐ช Debretsion Gebremichael controlled wing of TPLF have essentially started a soft coup against federal government backed administration of Getachew Reda.
โก๏ธ TPLF has over 250,000 fully armed units stationed in Shire, Adwa, and Axum.
โก๏ธ This situation reflects ongoing issues since the TPLF's 14th Congress, where leadership rifts have led to accusations of coup attempts and efforts to destabilize the region.
๐ฅ Between 2020 and 2022, Ethiopia experienced the Tigray War, a conflict primarily between the Ethiopian federal government and allied forces, including Eritrea, against the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). The war began in November 2020 after the TPLF attacked a federal military camp, leading to widespread fighting across Tigray, Amhara, and Afar regions.
โฐ๏ธ The conflict resulted in significant casualties, with estimates ranging from 162,000 to 600,000 deaths, massive displacement, and reports of war crimes and ethnic cleansing against the Amhara and Tigrayan populations by the warring factions.
๐ A ceasefire was agreed upon in November 2022, but the region remained in a state of humanitarian crisis.
