I've been thinking about the distinctions between language input and output skills in the process of language learning since I saw a word that it's very easy to understand its meaning and very hard to use it in a sentence.
The word was "befriending" which I believe everyone even in elementary level can understand but only an advanced level English learner can use it in a sentence like this:
she was very persistent about befriending me
For example, if I want to say that, I'll say: she was very persistent to stay my friend.
What do you think?
