1- اسامی‌ قابل شمارش:
جمع: the boys,some answers,those cars
مفرد:the boy,an answer,that car

2- اسامی‌ غير قابل شمارش:
بسياری‌ از مواد و مصالح
paper, wood, coal, silk, wool, cotton
فلزات
gold, iron, silver, steel
مواد غذايی‌
fish, fruit, sugar, meat, cheese, bread
مايعات و گازها
water, oil, milk, tea, air, steam, oxygen
چيزهای‌ ديگر
money, music, noise, land, hair, ice, snow

ويژگيهای‌ اسامی‌ قابل شمارش و غير قابل شمارش

اسمهای‌ قابل شمارش:
1- مي‌توانند به دنبال an، a يا one بيايند.
2- مي‌توانند به دنبال these، few، many و those بيايند.
3- مي‌توانند به دنبال يک عدد (مثلاً two ،three و ...) بيايند.

مثال:
I have a good job.
(not: ... a good work.)
Those meals were delicious.
(not: ... Those foods.)
I bought two loaves.
(not: ... two breads.)

اسمهای‌ غير قابل شمارش:

1- نمي‌توانند با حروف تعريف نامعين (a و an) بکار روند، بلکه بايد با some مورد استفاده قرار بگيرند.
2- مي‌توانند به دنبال much و little بيايند.
3- به راحتی‌ می‌توانند به دنبال اصطلاحاتی‌ از قبيل most of the، all of the، all the و half the بيايند.

مثال:
It's made of wood.
(not: ... made of trees.)
There's too much traffic.
(not: ... made of trees.)
I sold all the furniture.
(not: ... all the table.)
