Thousands of people marched to New Zealand's parliament, angry about a new bill which, they say,
worries/threatens/imperils Maori people.
The bill focuses on the Treaty of Waitangi, a document the British Crown and Maori chiefs signed in 1840. It promised Maori land and cultural rights. David Seymour introduced the bill, and he wanted to change the treaty. He says that it will make all New Zealanders
same/equal/equivalent. But many people don't agree. They say the bill is unfair and divides the country.
Protesters
walked/marched/traversed over 1,000 kilometers to keep the treaty for future generations. Schools let children
join/attend/participate to learn about history. The government won't probably
pass/approve/ratify the bill, but there may be a public vote about it.
