Examining the prevalence of complications in preterm babies and related factors in pregnant women referring to the hospital
Abstract:
Background: Premature birth is a birth that occurs more than 3 weeks before the baby's estimated birth date. Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome is a life-threatening lung disorder caused by surfactant deficiency. This disorder is mainly related to the prematurity of the baby. Substance abuse is one of the potential dangers that threaten different population groups, including pregnant women.
Materials and methods:
Identifying the cases of preterm births in mothers hospitalized in the obstetrics department of Amirul Mominin Hospital, Zabol, Iran, and investigating the complications and symptoms of preterm birth, including respiratory distress, increased blood pressure, premature rupture of the amniotic sac, meconial amniotic fluid and obvious anomalies and filling in the relevant checklists that were attached at the end.
Result: In study, 48 of the participants had hypertension, 36 had diabetes, and 22 of the pregnant mothers had drug addiction. Also, we observed in this study that there was no significant relationship between the complications of preterm babies and maternal diabetes and blood pressure, but there was a significant relationship between the complications of preterm babies and the addiction of pregnant mothers.
Discussion and conclusion: The results of this study did not show an effective relationship between the complications of preterm babies and diabetes and blood pressure, but there was an effective relationship between the complications of preterm babies and mothers'.
