🔴South Africa's complaint to the @CIJ_ICJ against #Israel is an important step towards States acting for the protection of civilians and the recognition of international crimes, including the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people.

🇿🇦 asks the Court to take measures on the basis of the Genocide Convention, such as the immediate suspension of Israel's military operations, bombardments and blockade of #Gaza, which are depriving its inhabitants of water, food and humanitarian assistance.

This demand is necessary and urgent given the international community's inability to impose a #ceasefire and thus preserve human lives.

This complaint by 🇿🇦 is in line with the conclusions of @fidh_en denouncing the current situation in #Palestine as an ongoing #genocide and calling on States to assume their responsibilities: prevent these international crimes and punish the perpetrators.
