The Irish government, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that the best way to address public concerns over immigration isn't through dialogue or policy reform,

but by turning our Gardaí into walking fortresses. €12 million for stab-proof vests?

Are we expecting a medieval joust or just another day of 'peaceful' protest?

It seems the only thing they're committed to protecting is not the public's safety or their concerns, but their own political hides.

Maybe next, they'll invest in invisibility cloaks for when they need to disappear from accountability.

Because clearly, addressing the root causes of these protests with actual solutions?

That's just too stab-proof for them

Members of An Garda Siochana may only make a demand for information if they have reasonable grounds for suspecting that someone has committed an offence.

They cannot arrest a man for failing and/or refusing to give his name and private details, nor direct him to leave the vicinity, simply because he is exercising his right to peaceful assembly and expression.

The Gardai are repeatedly abusing the authority afforded to them in the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994 and should be formally reported to GSOC.
