A significant number of musicologists propose the intriguing idea that music functions as a language, albeit one that doesn't convey highly abstract information. We'll spend considerable time dissecting this claim and exploring the evidence for and against this viewpoint. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that music does share some characteristics with language, then it becomes a logical next step to map the findings and theories of cognitive linguistics onto the domain of music cognition. This approach could offer valuable insights into how we understand and interpret music on a deeper level.
