ππOn November 25, 1950, the R-1 missile with a complex of ground equipment was accepted into service with the military index 8A11.
Serial production of the R-1 from domestic components was launched in accordance with the Resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers "1852-885ss of 01.06.1951 and in accordance with the Order of the USSR Ministry of Armaments No. 380 of 01 June 1951 at Plant No. 586 in Dnepropetrovsk (later SKB-586 and KB "Yuzhnoye"). The order established the missile production schedule:
- 1951 - 70 pcs (including those manufactured earlier by NII-88)
- 1952 - 230 pcs.
- 1953 - 700 pcs.
- 1954 - develop capacity to produce 2500 units per year
Initially, missiles were assembled at Plant No. 586 from units and parts produced at Plants NII-88 (pilot production) and No. 456 (engines, pilot production). The first missiles assembled at Plant No. 586 were sent to the Kapustin Yar test site in June 1952. The first successful launch of missiles from the serial plant was carried out at the test site on November 28, 1952. Production of R-1 missiles ceased in 1955.
