Old Man Winter Old Man Winter is the personification of the Winter Season, well known from American folklore. He is similar but distinct from Jack Frost who is more related specifically to Frost. Old Man Winter is actually tied into ancient Wintertime Mumming customs and some even say this may have been the origin of Santa Claus. In the modern day he is often used as the personification of Winter as a season and has been conflated with the North Wind (Boreas, etc.) in his artistic depictions.-TLK
