My Impressions from the Trip to Istanbul -
Part 2(Part 1
Here )
So, last time
I went on vacation in Turkey, and when it was time to fly back (tickets were booked well in advance, mind you), we showed up at the airport and –
surprise! – no seats for us.
First time this ever happened to me. Turns out, the airline had sold more tickets than there were seats, even though I paid extra to pick my seat.
They sent us to the gate and handed us boarding passes, except instead of a seat number, we got
"SBY" for Stand By. Yep, just waiting there in case someone decided not to fly home that day!
As “compensation,” they offered me a spot on the next flight (five hours later!) and €250.
I wasn't having it, so I argued with the staff. Finally, they gave in and put us in business class. In the end, I flew in luxury, even though I paid for economy.
Moral of the story?
Never back down – it just might land you a better seat!
