I'm not exactly sure which Pagan Goddess this is referring to but it could be either: The Morrighan (Celtic mythology): She is often depicted as a goddess of war and fate, determining which warriors walk off the battlefield and which are carried away on their shields. In this context, she can be seen as taking away the souls of those who die in battle. Hel (Norse mythology): As the goddess of the underworld, Hel is responsible for guiding the souls of those who die in battle to the afterlife. Although not directly taking away souls, she plays a crucial role in the process of separating the living from the dead.

In 1663, France sent 800 women, known as the "Filles du Roi" ("Daughters of the King"), to Quebec to marry settlers. This initiative was successful and doubled the population within ten years. Today, two-thirds of the French-Canadian population can trace their ancestry back to these women.
