Alejandro Mayorkas is demanding more money from Congress for FEMA.
President Joe Biden said that he may call Congress back to Washington for an emergency session to approve new disaster relief funding.
Of course, FEMA will need more money. Helene's damage is vast. But so far, FEMA's efforts have been a failure. Their protocol driven response - set up for a standard hurricane along the coastline is inadequate. They have been completely inflexible, unable to respond to this new disaster. Unable to even get help where it is needed most.
So far, FEMA has been ill prepared to handle the disaster in W. North Carolina. People are suffering, maybe dying because of FEMA's poor response. Rescue efforts have been dismal.
The truth is that FEMA, under the thumb of the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) has been focused on DEI and climate change, as well as paying for illegal immigrants - at the behest of the White House.
For instance, a portion of FEMA funds have been diverted to help pay for migrants entering the country- including illegal aliens. This is not what FEMA should be focused on! This is an unethical - that money is reserved for emergency response.
Congress made a huge mistake in placing FEMA under DHS - through the Patriot Act.
FEMA must be a non-politicized agency, not under the thumb of the executive branch - who directs DHS (in this case, the Biden administration).
DHS is the same corrupted agency now in charge of the Secret Service.
DHS is a corrupted organization from the get go and needs to be disbanded or reorganized.

Our friends in SC and NC are saying cash is king. Credit card systems don't work, hotel reservations, hotel keys can't be made, doors can't be locked or openned - even when at the front desk, and gas lines require cash. Everyone wants cash. Even barter is better than cards.
In the meantime, across the nation - Bank Of America Customers are reporting widespread outages and are panicking over Zero Balances.
A cashless society will fall apart in a true emergency or even a computer glitch, like crowd strike or what ever is going on with Bank of America right now.
The USA must reject all aspects of the central bank digital currency - or one day soon - even today, there will be a price to pay.
Part of being prepared for an emergency is keeping cash on hand.
Don't let them take that away from us.

I continue to be deeply horrified and upset by Hurricane Helene's devastation.
Physically - what comes to mind is the Nixon-Kennedy Debate.
Walz was hunched, mottled and red - with a troll-like demeanor.

CNN reports that scientific "modeling" estimates that "climate change ...caused by fossil fuel pollution" was responsible for Hurricane Helene's severity...
Sound familiar?
To me, this is like the "modeling" that predicted a 3.4% case fatality rate of COVID-19 in 2020, which led to the draconian COVIDcrisis policies.

So, Jill and I have put out over 1700 essays - reaching around 250,000 people per essay on Substack. We have almost 350,000 subscribers. Between the two of us, we write good stuff, with lots of political analysis.
As Real Clear Politics solicits articles to list on their site, Jill has sent in a "tip" to them on articles we have written about 300 times. There has never been a single acknowledgement of these tips, nor have they ever even one published any our articles. It has become a running joke in our house - a scoreboard of sorts.
As I have a large X following, by re-porting my stuff - they would gain subscribers. But they evidently have no interest.
It would be nice to know that reason why...

Fla @ GovRonDeSantis says he was in the air yesterday and missed a call from @ POTUS But he said feds should focus on N.C. right now. "We have it handled" in Florida he said. Fla is preparing missions to help get people out of western N.C. via helicoptersβ¦
Gov. DeSantis asks the Feds to focus on North Carolina, instead of Florida - which already has resources to handle the damage. The Florida Governor say that NC still has active rescues, their infrastructure is destroyed and the numbers of how many are dead have "only scratched the surface".
DeSantis also states Florida will be sending in rescue missions and air support to bring people out of the mountain areas. That NC needs help now. time is of the essence.
This is truly inspiring.
