Gelephu (a city in Bhutan) has recognized Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB and other cryptocurrencies as part of its strategic reserves. The decision is intended to increase the economic resilience of the region and is part of the jurisdiction's plan to implement mining. The administration intends to recognize digital assets that have a larger market capitalization and deep liquidity, and are built on "more mature and secure blockchains." According to Arkham, Bhutan currently holds a total of 11,688 BTC worth $1.1 billion. The country also holds Ethereum worth $2.2 million and other coins.
