🇵🇱, Gdansk, Old Town
The old town of the maritime capital of Poland - Gdansk, as if frozen on the border of the Middle Ages and modernity. Despite the fact that the modern historical center is the result of careful reconstruction of the scars of the Second World War.
Most of the streets of the Old City have the same layout and architecture as 500 years ago, and almost a third of them even have the same names.
The center of the Old Town has been the Long Market since the Middle Ages. It was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War. But despite the reconstruction, it makes a strong impression. The architectural style of the streets is a mixture of Late Gothic and Baroque motifs with significant influence of German-Dutch architecture.
There is an intense city life here - tourists and residents walk among the old streets, sit in colorful cafes and restaurants, stare at street performances that take place here all summer.
